Played a ton yet again yesterday. I think I have over 12k hands for November already. The theme of my game right now is continuing though. I believe I am down a buy-in in those 12k hands. Coolers/Std losing hands etc. are abundant. The amount of three outers I have taken is approaching or has exceeded 15, and that’s just the 3 outers. There have been some 2 outers etc as well and lots. The hands where I am 85% equity or more after the turn are countless.
I am a member at CardRunners, DeucesCracked and StoxPoker now. I don’t really know why… there really is no need for all this content. I am very certain that I really cant learn a whole lot more about the game until I (unless) I reach the 400nl level. There just are no big jumps any longer. The games get harder at 200nl but that is only because it is the first limit where the level of player gets significantly better. Even the fish/donks are not as bad. They are suddenly very aggressive and want to win every pot, making playing them more variance oriented. I brought this up because I was just trying to figure out what video I want to watch. Quite frankly, why. I am not going to learn anything from them (you always learn but nothing I haven’t heard before). Becoming a better player is 100% in my hands now. I have the knowledge, the BR and the mental capacity to put in a lot of hands. It now comes down to decision making, controlling spew, maximizing value and making proper river decisions.
I made a 50nl video today. I ran sick good and ran over tables, completely owning souls. I kind of found the video to be funny. I made it just to change the pace of grinding a ton. Then as I was playing I realized, this was a great learning/teaching video. I mean AWESOME. As I began the climb from 25nl-50nl-100nl-200nl I was a HUGELY critical of almost every video of that limit. Nearly all of the videos were just insane LAG for the limit. At DC there were good ones where they understood not being so ridiculous at the lower limits but then I found them being TOO tight post flop. I think there are at TON of spots at 25nl-50nl where you end up value calling really thin for a good win-rate. Check-fold is way overused at these limits. One of the hardest parts for my move to 100nl (first 10k hands) was removing that profitable hero call from my game. At 200nl it became even more of an issue. So I think my staker will give that to one of his students he coaches. Along with that I may put it on the forums/training sites. We will see. I have only outed my screen name in a few spots at very intermittent times. I am not so sure I want to supply a video of who I am whilst playing.
So another thing I have been considering is outing my name. I think that I am at a point that I can really help 25nl-50nl players a ton. At the same time having a big time winner at your current limit or a winner at the limit above you, as a friend is a huge asset. Being able to speak poker, life etc while grinding day in and out is a huge deal. I have 2 people like that but I think that even more could be an asset. As I move into having a day job again and grinding like 50k hands a month in my spare time I think that this should help keep me on my toes. My only worry is that a huge portion of the 200nl field is active at all the training sites and 2+2. So on one note it makes you say, if they know you they will know you are probably a better player. On that same note though, all I usually need is 50 hands on someone before I know if they are a training site member/2+2 type player. So I guess it doesn’t make a difference.
Later I may add some of the sick-o hands from yesterday.
